I.C.E. Launches International Credentialing Toolkit
By Rali Petrova, MBA, ICE-CCP, Hao Song, PhD, ICE-CCP
The I.C.E. International Credentialing Task Force is charged with helping I.C.E. determine what is needed for member organizations to expand internationally, and developing tools to enhance knowledge around entry into international markets.
The task force has been hard at work creating an International Credentialing Toolkit. With Michael Reid (Meazure Learning) serving as the task force chair, the group developed checklists, conducted industry interviews and authored case studies. Additionally, the task force will host and help facilitate three international credentialing workshops in early 2023.
Learn more about the toolkit’s offerings available to I.C.E. members and what’s to come in 2023.
Considerations for International Expansion Online Course
A key component of the toolkit, and the focus of the upcoming workshops, is the Considerations for International Expansion Online Course. The course is designed to help key stakeholders make a thoughtful decision on whether to expand their certification abroad, focusing on the why of expansion, legal issues and ways to go global. The course includes interactive e-learning features, templates and worksheets, and offers guidance on how to execute an expansion plan.
International Certification Expansion Case Studies
The task force has also worked on numerous other projects, such as the International Certification Case Studies. Two case study interviews were conducted: one with the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) CEO, Dr. Amy S. Dufrane, EdD, SPHR, CAE, and one with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®) CEO, Sara Lake, J.D., CAE, and former Chief Operating Officer Pam Weber, CAE. The case studies highlight how credentialing organizations successfully embraced, strategically implemented and operationally overcame some significant challenges in business development and international expansion.
International Expansion Checklist
When intending to implement an international credential, credentialing professionals will need to consider many variables in the interest of formulating the best strategy for implementation. The task force developed a checklist of questions that provide both basic and more complex considerations and represent different variables in place prior to, during and post implementation of an international credential.
International Credentialing Interviews
Task force members also interviewed subject matter experts on a variety of topics related to expanding a certification program globally, such as test translation and adaptation, eligibility and security. These recorded interviews and presentations along with their transcripts can be accessed here within the toolkit.
What’s To Come
The I.C.E. International Credentialing Task Force looks forward to providing additional resources, including the credentialing workshops in spring 2023.
