The Certified Credentialing Professional Experience: A Q&A With Janice Moore, ICE-CCP
In the fifth installment of our ICE-CCP Q&A series, I.C.E. Publications and Editorial Committee member Steven Garner chats with Janice Moore, a member of the inaugural certification cohort.
Moore has more than 20 years in the credentialing space. While her work focuses mainly on governance, policy development and accreditation compliance, her role as a consultant allows her to see how credentialing programs operate. In this Q&A she shares how her credentialing background peaked her interest in pursuing the ICE-CCP, how she prepared for the exam and more.

What attracted you to pursuing the brand-new ICE-CCP certification?
The ICE-CCP is the first certification that directly applies to my work in certification. After years of helping create certifications for organizations in other industries, I appreciated the opportunity to finally experience the process from a certificant’s point of view.
How did you prepare for taking the exam?
There’s no shortage of certification resources available. I did my best to follow the advice we often give to candidates and started by reviewing the exam content outline to build a study plan. Since most of my work includes the governance and resources and credentialing program operations domains, I felt comfortable with that content.
I did re-read the I.C.E. Handbook and reviewed the Certification and Accreditation Law Handbook as a refresher in those areas. For the assessment development and validation domain, the psychometric chapters in the I.C.E. Handbook provided a great review.
What was the remotely proctored exam experience like for you?
The exam delivery platform worked well and the proctor was very helpful in starting the process. To avoid any surprises, I did check (and re-check) my internet speed, reviewed all the guidelines and worked through the online tutorial to get familiar with the exam delivery tool ahead of time.
How do you see your career being impacted now that you earned the ICE-CCP?
The certification validates what I have learned on the job over the years. I don’t anticipate a direct impact to my career at this point, but I hope the certification contributes to advancing our field of work by better defining what a credentialing professional does.
What advice do you have for those considering the pursuit of ICE-CCP certification?
I encourage anyone that meets the eligibility requirements to pursue the certification. The ICE-CCP provides confirmation that we have a foundational knowledge of credentialing, whether our day-to-day work is in operations, consulting, psychometrics or something else. The certification confirms generalist knowledge across categories that can help all of us work together more effectively.
